1963 Ford Thames 15 Tipper

The 1963 Thames Tipper Lorry, produced by Ford’s UK commercial division, was a sturdy and dependable workhorse designed for heavy-duty tasks. Built on the Thames Trader platform, it featured a robust chassis and tipping bed ideal for construction, quarrying, and industrial work. Powered by reliable diesel or petrol engines, it delivered ample torque for hauling loads across varied terrain. Its cab-forward design improved visibility and maneuverability, while simple mechanicals made maintenance straightforward. Popular throughout Britain in the post-war industrial boom, the Thames Tipper became a symbol of gritty productivity, earning a reputation for toughness that endears it to vintage truck enthusiasts today.

Originally registered in March 1963, this rare example is believed to be one of the only remaining tipper models with a manual operation. This impressive example has benefitted from an earlier restoration and presents extremely well in blue coachwork and features drop sides to the rear. Powered by a 1703 cc four cylinder petrol engine mated to a three speed column change manual gearbox.

The recorded mileage is 46000 miles with many previous Mots, service/repair invoices, original service book and workshop manual.

This Thames 15 is ideally suited to being sign-written with huge advertising potential for your business or company, cruising the summer classic shows, used as intended or, given the recent popularity of good commercial models, it would grace any serious collection.

Classed as a historic vehicle it benefits from Mot exemption and free road tax.
